Charles Town celebrates Small Business Saturday, holiday season | Journal-news
CHARLES TOWN — Small Business Saturday kicked off the holiday season in downtown Charles Town where merchants opened their stores to welcome local shoppers. Many offered specials and sales in line with the kick-off to Christmas.
As visitors gathered in the downtown area, they were welcomed with the sounds of holiday music as three different performances took place on the lawn of Jefferson County Courthouse throughout the day.
Kicking off the musical productions were members of the Fellowship Bible Church Orchestra, led by Hector Zavala. The Jefferson County Community Choir performed as well, as did the Washington High School jazz band and ensemble.
Music could also be heard drifting from the Cheer Booth that had its grand opening reappearance on the Charles Town scene.
