5 workers at Riverside-area business hospitalized when exposed to substance – San Bernardino Sun
Five people were hospitalized with minor injuries Friday morning, Oct. 15, after being exposed to a substance at a Riverside-area business that made them dizzy, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department said.
The accident happened at High Tech Logistics, a distribution center at 14063 Brown St., just south of Sycamore Canyon Park.
Employees were unloading a shipping container outside a few minutes before 9 a.m. when they fell ill, said Capt. Richard Cordova, a Cal Fire spokesman.
About 130 employees were evacuated from the building, Cal Fire said.
At 10:30 a.m., hazardous-materials teams from Cal Fire and the Riverside Fire Department were suiting up to enter the container and determine the source of the irritant.
